Day 01

Arrival at NJP/Bagdogra & Transfer to Gangtok

Welcome to the gateway of Sikkim! Upon your arrival at Bagdogra Airport (IXB) or New Jalpaiguri (NJP) Railway Station, our professional driver will greet you. From there, you will begin your scenic 4-hour drive (approx. 120 km) ascending alongside the magnificent Teesta River towards Gangtok.

Upon reaching Gangtok, check into your pre-booked hotel. The evening is completely free for leisure. We highly recommend taking a stroll down the famous MG Marg to enjoy the vibrant café culture and crisp mountain air. Dinner will be served at your hotel while we process your North Sikkim permits.

Transit: ~4 Hours / 120 KM
Day 02

Transfer from Gangtok to Lachen

After breakfast, commence your journey to the high-altitude village of Lachen (approx. 115 km / 6 hours). En route, you will pass through stunning landscapes and make brief stops at the Seven Sister Waterfalls, Naga Waterfalls, and the Chungthang confluence where the Teesta River meets the Lachen Chu and Lachung Chu.

Arrive at Lachen (9,000 ft) by late afternoon and check into your hotel. Lachen serves as the base camp for Gurudongmar Lake. Acclimatize to the altitude, enjoy a warm dinner, and rest early for the next day's pre-dawn departure.

Highlights: Seven Sister Waterfalls, Chungthang Valley
Day 03

Gurudongmar Lake Excursion & Transfer to Lachung

Begin your day extremely early (around 4:00 AM) and drive through the high-altitude desert of Thangu Valley to reach the sacred Gurudongmar Lake at 17,800 feet. The frozen lake offers an ethereal, once-in-a-lifetime sight against the backdrop of snow-clad Himalayan peaks.

After spending a short time at the lake (due to low oxygen levels), return to Lachen for a late breakfast/lunch. Post lunch, pack your bags and transfer to Lachung (approx. 50 km / 2.5 hours). Check into your Lachung hotel for a warm dinner and overnight stay.

Highlights: Gurudongmar Lake, Thangu Valley

Highlights: Yumthang Valley, Hot Springs
Day 05

Enjoy your final breakfast in the Himalayas. After checking out of your hotel, your dedicated cab will be ready to begin the descent back to the plains along the Teesta River.

Comprehensive Guide: Booking Your Gurudongmar Lake Yumthang Valley Tour Package

Why the Gurudongmar Lake Yumthang Valley Tour Package is the Bestseller

When searching for an extreme Himalayan adventure, the Gurudongmar Lake Yumthang Valley Tour Package stands out as the ultimate bucket-list itinerary. It brings you face-to-face with frozen lakes at 17,800 feet and sweeping alpine valleys. By booking our dedicated north sikkim tour package, you completely eliminate the stress of arranging sensitive inner-line permits and high-altitude transport. Your assigned chauffeur handles the challenging mountain terrains safely, ensuring you reach Gurudongmar before the strong afternoon winds set in.

The Advantage of Booking with Hotels and Meals

Planning a trip to remote North Sikkim requires meticulous coordination of travel, ground transport, permits, and accommodations. This specific sikkim tour itinerary removes all logistical hurdles. We partner with highly-rated, verified properties in Lachen and Lachung that guarantee warmth, hygiene, and excellent hospitality in sub-zero temperatures. With breakfast and dinner included, you save immense effort searching for food in these remote outposts, allowing your body to rest and acclimatize.

Understanding North Sikkim Cab Fares & Transit

We believe in absolute pricing transparency. North Sikkim requires special permits and robust commercial SUVs (like Xylo, Scorpio, or Innova) due to harsh road conditions and steep inclines. Relying on spot-bookings for a gurudongmar lake taxi often leads to inflated, unpredictable costs. By securing this package, your transit fare is locked in. It covers your initial bagdogra to gangtok taxi or njp to gangtok cab pickup, the rugged North Sikkim circuit, driver allowances, and toll taxes.

Whether you require an economical SUV for a budget trip, or a premium Innova Crysta for a comfortable family tour, our north sikkim holiday package 2026 fleet is maintained to the highest safety standards to guarantee a secure mountain expedition.

Best Time to Visit North Sikkim

To make the most of this itinerary, timing is crucial. The best time to visit North Sikkim is during Spring (April to May) when Yumthang Valley is blooming with vibrant Rhododendrons, and Autumn (October to November) which offers crystal-clear skies for viewing the frozen Gurudongmar Lake. We advise extreme caution during monsoons (July-August) due to frequent landslides, and peak winter (Jan-Feb) when roads to Gurudongmar are often blocked by heavy snowfall.

Package FAQ

Common questions about this itinerary.

Do I need a special permit for this tour?

Yes, North Sikkim (Lachen, Lachung, Gurudongmar) is a restricted area. We arrange all necessary Inner Line Permits (ILP) based on the ID proofs and passport-size photographs you provide in advance.

Is Zero Point (Yumesamdong) included in the itinerary?

No. Zero Point and Kala Pathar are optional excursions not covered in standard itineraries. If the weather permits, you can visit them by making a direct extra payment to the cab driver on the spot.

Are children allowed to visit Gurudongmar Lake?

Due to the extreme high altitude (17,800 ft) and thin oxygen levels, children below 5 years and elderly tourists with breathing or heart issues are strictly advised not to visit Gurudongmar Lake.
