How to Reach Sandakphu from NJP/Siliguri & Taxi Details

Reaching the Base (Manebhanjan)

Before you can conquer Sandakphu, you must first arrive at Manebhanjan, the official base camp for the trek. Manebhanjan is located about 90 kilometers from Siliguri, NJP Railway Station, and Bagdogra Airport. Standard tourist taxis, hatchbacks, and sedans can easily travel up to Manebhanjan via the scenic Mirik route. You can book a direct, point-to-point drop from the plains to Manebhanjan with Siliguri Cab Rental. The journey takes about 3.5 to 4 hours.

Manebhanjan to Sandakphu

The 31-kilometer stretch from Manebhanjan up to Sandakphu is famously grueling. Standard commercial taxis from NJP are not permitted or capable of driving up this steep, unpaved route inside the Singalila National Park.
